Six Little Stitches

The kids wanted to go to Joshua and Marah's church for VBS this week so off we went to Florence for a few days. It's funny how everything always happens when you leaset expect it. Caley fell on the front steps at Nana and Grampy's house and hit her head pretty good. It seriously looked like there was a hole in her head. I think everyone was pretty scared but especially Carter. He cried for a long time worried about his sister. He's my tender heart.

Mom and I took her to the ER immediately and thankfully we didn't have to wait long at all. The doctor saw her and right away said that she would need some stitches. He also thought that the scar might have to be corrected in the future. Hopefully not.

I think he did a fantastic job stitching her up! They wrapped her up like a burrito and had two nurses to holding her down so the doctor could numb the area. I think he stuck her about 5 times right in the hole. Caley was screaming and honestly I felt like screaming too. That had to have hurt so bad. She was closing her eyes tight the whole time because she didn't want to see anything. Smart girl!

After she was numb she laid there very still and let the doctor stitch her up without a problem. I was very proud of her. I am so thankful that she's o.k. Her guradian angel was taking care of her.

Caley new that we had planned on going to Spring Park that night to grill out with some of the family and she wasn't gonna let a few stitches stop that.
The kids had so much fun playing together! Caley felt fine the entire time. Not one complaint.
Towards the end of the night there was a light show by the water. The kids also got to feed the ducks. It was a perfect night....felt wonderful outside.

As you can imagine, baths were a necessity that night, immediately when we got back!

Bible Memory Challenge

We are extremely blessed to be a part of a church that has such an awesome children's ministry. They have a program called Bible Memory Challenge that encourages children to study the Bible and memorize scripture. Each month they have one scripture or fact to memorize and recite. When they have completed all the verses they are recognized and get a trophy at the awards ceremony at the end of the school year.

Thomas and I are so proud of our boys for being a part of this and we couldn't be happier knowing that Mayfair is helping our kids grow to love the Lord.

Carter wanted to catch up with his big brother so he decided to do the 4 year olds, kindergarten, and first grade memory challenges so he received 3 trophies. Go Carter!!

A Campin' We Will Go

Another random little last-minute adventure. We took the kids up to Monte Sano Mountain here in Huntsville to go camping for the night. We have not done this very much at all and this might be the first time as a whole family. We had a great time, some good quality family time. We did learn a few things that we will definitely have to remember for the next time. More blankets, lighter fluid, dry wood, and more blankets.

Thomas got that tent up really quickly. He's actually had some practice at home. He's set that thing up in the house and in our backyard before for the kids. They love it!!

Well, here it is..our hotel for the night. It fit all 5 of us and of course, Molly.

While the tent was being set up the kids started gathering sticks for the fire.

We are gonna need more than that!

Our poor little fire. All the wood was wet which made it difficult to get the fire started. A little lighter fluid might have helped. We'll know next time.

The fire made it through hot dogs and smores then went out right before we got in the tent.

I didn't take any pictures of roasting marshmallows because I was too busy stuffing my face.

What's camping without a bean bag toss?

Here it is....our lovely campsite. I sort of felt like a country bumpkin.

For some reason Molly likes to get right next to your face to lay down. She did really good being still in the tent and finally went to sleep when the kids did.

I thought we were well prepared with our sleeping arrangements but I was sadly mistaken. I froze! The only hour of sleep I got was in the car at 5:00 am this morning...with the heat on. The kids were fine and said they didn't get cold at all. Thomas was a little cold too, probably more than he'll admit. He was up quite a bit during the night but he claims it was because I wouldn't be still. I believe him.

Overall, we had a fun time! I'm really not much of a camper but I really did enjoy it! I'm hoping we're creating memories that our kids will never forget.

A Typical Summer Day

This summer we will probably be spending most of our days at the pool in the neighborhood. The kids beg to go pretty much everyday so here is a glimpse into a summer day with the Busby's.

Half-way in...that's about as close as she gets. We worked on blowing bubbles in the water. Progress slowly.

Camden loves doing handstands in the water.

I give it a 7 out of 10. He really is getting good at it. Carter is working on it too.

Typical of Caley, mostly walking around the pool instead of in the water. She really doesn't know what she's missing. She is going to get out of this timidness if I have to throw her in!!

We are glad that the kids have some friends to play with at the pool. Ryan, on the left, was in Camden's first grade class this year and on his spring baseball team. Gabe, in the middle, is a friend from church and has been on both Camden and Carter's baseball team!
