Road Trip to See the Cubbies

This was definitely one of our little random, spur-of-the-moment, road trips. Thomas thought it might be fun to take the kids to Chicago to see the Cubs play. We started our journey Friday at about 4:30 pm. We really had no plans of how far we were going or where we would stay so we just drove until we decided to park it. By the time Thomas was ready to stop and find a hotel there wasn't a good place to stop for about an hour or so. We ended up stopping about 30 minutes away from Chicago and spent the night. The next morning, we drove to Navy Pier in Chicago and goofed off a little while before we went to the ball park.

This picture was in front of the big Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier.

Thank goodness I had Caley's blanket in the car. She had on a little spaghetti strap dress and the boys had on t-shirts. Apparently, we ignored some advice that we might need sweatshirts. It was quite chilly. Especially when the sun isn't out. It was cloudy all day until about an hour before the game started.
We let the kids each choose one thing to do while we were there.

Caley chose the carousel.

Camden chose the electric boats that you could steer.

Carter chose the Ferris Wheel.

Daddy rode with him. Carter picked the scariest ride and Camden chose the least scariest.

We got to the field about 3 hours early so we had quite a but of time to spare. Here are the kids with the Harry Carey statue..."Take Me out to the Ballgame".

Thomas was able to get bleacher seats on Craigslist the night before the game. A really nice person gave them to us for face value. We were really lucky because they were selling for a whole lot more. He also let us park at the fire station right next to the field!

The first 5,000 kids were given a Build-A-Bear cub. The kids were really excited and they're all sleeping with them tonight!

We got there early enough to watch batting practice. It was lots of fun watching people catch the home run balls on the bleachers.

The dude in the background to the right and back of Carter caught 2. Lucky Lucky!

This is my favorite picture! I think it's the best one I have of Thomas and Caley!

About 20 minutes after we left the field the kids were all knocked out.

We had a great time! Next time we probably won't sit in the bleachers section. Apparently, it's really like the student section. Too many wild and crazy college kids. I wish I had ear plugs for the kids during the game to block out all the profanity. I'm hoping that they didn't get any of it and won't remember any of it. We'll see. Other than that, good job, Thomas!! Next road trip.....?

Memorial Day

For Memorial Day, we all went to Nana and Grampy's for a cookout! All the cousins have the best time playing with each other. My parents live on a golf course so the kids have a ball running in the grass and riding the gator. We tried to get a good pic of all of them together but it's nearly impossible with 9 kids.

Caley and Macy are doing great! Joshua....nice!

Getting there.

Obviously, no one is paying attention in this one.

A few more smiles. Noah, what are you doing?

This is the best one I got.

Apparently, Noah has gotten really good at his little trick!

And the wrestling begins.

Surprisingly, no one got hurt this particular day.

Macy has had enough!

Back in the Blogs

Welcome to my new blog! After taking almost a year off, I decided to get my rear in gear and start blogging about my family again. I'm sure I will probably throw in some of my random thoughts. For any of you that really know me, you know that I over-analyze and I'm a little spacey at times. :) Who knows what kinds of crazy things I might post. I apologize that I'm not a writer or even close. I probably have the vocabulary of a 3rd grader. But, hey..this is for the fam, right?

Backing up a couple of weeks. My boys had a great spring baseball season. I really thought that by the end I would be ready for it to be over but I was mistaken. It went by way too quickly and they both had several games rained out. I actually can't wait for sports again in the fall.

Holly, a friend from church, and whose son was on Camden's team this year, made a video for all of the kids to take home. She did an AMAZING job! I think we've probably watched it at our house about 50 times. Take a look! I really can't get the song out of my head.

Here are some pics of them in action.

Camden played on the Cubs at second base and outfield. He learned a ton this year because he played up with the 7 and 8 year olds. He could have actually done T-Ball one more year but most of the kids in his class at school were playing coach pitch so we decided, why not? Thomas helped coach Camden's team and I think he enjoyed it almost as much as the boys.

I love the way his mouth looks the same in both of the above pictures.

Here he is at second base actually keeping his feet still. I think he had some happy feet in the infield, constantly moving. It really drove me and Thomas crazy.

Nice, follow through.

Thomas was the head coach for Carter's team this year...the Binghamton Mets. He played T-ball. I think that for the kids that get pitched to at home often, hitting off the T can throw you off a bit. Carter did great but I can't wait 'til he plays coach pitch because he hits it better when being pitched to, I think. He has a bit of an advantage over Camden because he is learning a ton from his big brother!

I love this picture!

Another nice follow through.

He's ready to make the out!

Be ready, Carter!

Just had to add this one!

I could't leave out my baby girl. There will be tons to post about her later. She says that she wants to play soccer in the fall. We'll see. I have no earthly idea how she'll do. She is the type that I can see running off the field in the middle of the game just because she wanted to. We need to get some practice in now to get her ready. But, I really can't wait to see it!

About Me

Hi, my name is Brooke.  I'm a 31 year old, stay-at-home mom from Sweet Home Alabama.  That cutie in the picture beside me is my wonderful husband, who I totally don't deserve.  We got married one year before we graduated from Auburn University, then started our family after only one year of marriage.   We completed our family after baby #3 (5 years ago) and couldn't be more blessed to have our party of five.

I'm a Christian, and I love the Lord with all of my heart.  I fall short, and disappoint Him daily, but I'm so thankful that I've been saved by His amazing grace.  My one goal in life is to get to Heaven, and get my family there too.

I love to do SO MANY things!  To name a few...photography, crafts, cooking, sewing, eating chocolate, digital design, and blogging, but most of all...spending time with my family.

I am a worrier, a dreamer, a procrastinator, and a forgetter.  These days I can't even remember where the milk goes. :)

This little old blog is my way of recording and capturing a glimpse of the moments in my life.

So glad you stopped by!!
